	Bronx maintenance staff buys time in contract dispute Bronx maintenance workers threatening to throw in the towel say theyâ€™ve bought more time in the fight over their contracts. According to staff members with the Local 32BJ Union at a Concourse Village residential complex, they now have until Sept. 15 to negotiate a deal for their health insurance and pension plans.

	Man accused in Pelham Pkwy. stabbing due in court The man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend after causing her car to crash on Pelham Parkway will face a judge again today. Dionis Espinal pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance last week, and was remanded without bail in the death of 20-year-old Katherine German.

	Arrest made in fatal Bruckner Blvd. hit-and-run Police have arrested a man who they say was behind the wheel during a fatal hit-and-run in Longwood. According to authorities, 31-year-old Leroy Forrest struck and killed 24-year-old Abigail Lino with his SUV.

	What is Labor Day? For more than a century, Labor Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of September, but some Bronx residents that spoke to News 12 were not sure why. The U.S. Department of Labor says that Labor Day was started by unions as a way to recognize the achievements of American workers.

	Bronx residents fire up the grills The city urged everyone to follow park rules while barbecuing outside this Labor Day. Many Bronx residents headed out to Pelham Bay Park early to claim their spots in one of the designated grilling areas.
