Partnership for a Healthy Community at work in a garden  

Researchers are leading a community-based research project to combat the obesity epidemic

Faculty members from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are helping lead a partnership that's working toward a solution to curb rampant obesity through a process known as community-based participatory research, which strives to engage local stakeholders in all aspects of the research process.

08.12.2013: Brian Squibb was nominated for the 2013 Governor's Award for Workplace Health and Safety for his efforts in ensuring that workplace safety is a priority at Virginia Tech.

E. Scott Johnson appointed an assistant professor of accounting and information systems

08.12.2013: Scott Johnson's research interests include real earnings management, executive compensation, corporate governance, and financial capital markets. His public accounting experience includes working in Deloitte's Atlanta office.

Brooke D. Beyer appointed assistant professor of accounting and information systems

08.09.2013: Beyer has co-authored articles on earnings management constraints, audit committee financial expertise, and stock repurchases and investment efficiency. His co-authored article, "What It Means to be an Accounting Professor: A Concise Guide for Doctoral Students in Accounting," was published in Issues in Accounting Education in 2010.
