Winds may be light enough and incoming background levels high enough for ozone to reach "Moderate" levels on the west side of the Houston area and in the Beaumont-Port Arthur and Tyler-Longview areas, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening. A weak African dust cloud is moving into the lower Texas coast this morning and could possibly raise daily PM2.5 AQI levels into the "Moderate" range in parts of South Texas, including the Brownsville-McAllen, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and Victoria areas. Elsewhere in the state, moderate winds and lower incoming background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.

Winds may be light enough and incoming background levels high enough for ozone levels to reach "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" on the west and southwest side of the Houston area and "Moderate" or possibly higher on the north and northeast side of the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in the Beaumont-Port Arthur and Tyler-Longview areas, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening. African dust should spread to cover parts of South and Central Texas, raising the daily PM2.5 AQI into the "Moderate" range in the Austin, San Antonio, Brownsville-McAllen, Laredo, and Corpus Christi areas. Elsewhere in the state, moderate winds and lower incoming background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.
Thursday 8/29/13 Outlook
Winds may be light enough and incoming background levels high enough for ozone levels to reach "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" on the north and northeast sides of the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas; "Moderate" or possibly higher in the Beaumont-Port Arthur and Tyler-Longview areas; and "Moderate" on the north and northeast sides of the Austin and San Antonio areas, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening. The weakening African dust cloud with PM2.5 levels at the lower end of the "Moderate" range cloud should move inland to cover parts of West Texas and the Panhandle, including the Laredo, Midland-Odessa, and Lubbock areas. Elsewhere in the state, moderate winds and lower incoming background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.
