INCIDENT DESCRIPTION: | At 03:35 Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) responded to a 911 call for a structure fire, at the 900 block of Glen Oaks Boulevard, in southeast Dallas. When first responding companies arrived at the one-story residence, they could see smoke coming from the front of the house. Firefighters quickly made entry and put out the fire, located in front living area. Once the fire was out, firefighters found the unresponsive body of an adult male near the point of origin. Unfortunately, he was determined to be deceased. The wife of the victim was the only other person in the house when the incident occurred, but she was uninjured. The quick action of firefighters helped to isolate the fire damage to the area of origin; but the rest of the house sustained significant smoke damage. If not for the sound of the smoke detectors warning the occupant, the situation could have turned out even worse. The cause of the fire is under investigation pending the findings from the Medical Examiner’s Office. Please remember that if you live within the Dallas city limits, and are in need of a smoke detector, you can call 311, make a request for a smoke detector and someone from DFR will come out and install it free of charge.
