July 12, 2013 East Cobb park anniversary event Saturday It has been 10 years since a few east Cobb residents realized their vision for a beautiful green space located in the heart of east Cobb. Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the park 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, as The Friends for East Cobb Park honor the founders of the park and East Cobb Civitan Club with food, refreshments, inflatable bounce houses, guest speakers, a DJ and entertainment. The event is open to all. East Cobb Park is located at 3322 Roswell Road, Marietta. Safe summer fun gets a sequel Cobb County Safety Village will host another Family Fun Safety Day 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, July 26. Admission to the event will be $5 per person up to a $20 maximum per family. It will feature safety activities including a tour of Sparky's House, water safety games, free fingerprinting kits, up-close views of emergency vehicles, entertainment, and refreshments. Agencies participating include Cobb County Animal Control, E-911, Fire and Emergency Services, Police, Cobb and Douglas Public Health, SafeKids Cobb County, WellStar Health System and the SafePath Children's Advocacy Center. Summer JAM to provide networking opportunity The Coalition of Cobb County Business Associations and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce are pleased to partner for the third annual Summer JAM 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, from at the Cobb County Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta. This networking event promotes exposure and awareness of local business associations throughout the county in a fun and social setting. Members of at least one Cobb County Business Association or the Cobb Chamber can register online and attend free; if you do not register online, you must pay $20 at the door. Save the date • Tuesday, Aug. 13 - Chairman District 4 town hall meeting, 7-8:30 p.m. Right-of-Way Maintenance, week of June July 15-19 Shoulder Mowing Department of Transportation crews (four mowers) will be in District 3. Contractor crew 1 has begun mowing and trimming in District 4 around the Six Flags area. They will remain in District 4 on roadways south of Mableton Road and South Gordon Road.
