	Week of Sept. 21–27, 2013 Road closure for Saturday parade Johnson Ferry Road will be closed 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 21, between Lower Roswell Road and Roswell Road for the East Cobber Parade. The detour route will be Roswell Road to Indian Hills Parkway to Lower Roswell Road. Get the inside view of the Cobb County zoning process In an effort to provide information and easy access to the county’s 12-week zoning cycle, a six-week series has been developed taking you step-by-step through the process. Week Ten: The Planning Commission Zoning Hearing is normally held on the first Tuesday of the month in the Board of Commissioners meeting room on the second floor at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. Based on the content of the Zoning Analysis book, the applicant’s presentation, and any opposition presented, the Planning Commission makes a recommendation regarding the rezoning request to the Board of Commissioners. Week Eleven: Additional information, applicant stipulation letters and opposition letters are due in the Zoning Office, by noon on the second Wednesday of the month, for consideration by the Board of Commissioners. Please note, these documents may be submitted at any time prior to the deadline. Click here to see stipulation letters from previous zoning cases. Final Other Business documents are posted online by Friday. Week Twelve: The Board of Commissioners Zoning Hearing is normally held the third Tuesday of the month in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Room on the second floor at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.  At this hearing, the Board of Commissioners makes its final decision on rezoning requests and Other Business items. UPDATE - Z-43 Isakson Living Communities, LLC The Zoning Department has received a letter dated Sept. 13, 2013 from Isakson Living Communities, LLC requesting that its case be continued until the November 2013 hearings. The Planning Commission Zoning Hearing will be on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd floor meeting room at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. The Board of Commissioners Zoning Hearing will be on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta. Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25, 2013. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route will be provided during construction.  Now that school is in session expect extended delays on Lower Roswell Road (Detour Route).  Plan for alternate routes during these hours. See attached map. Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek  – Saturday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 27 The contractor will continue work on the bridge deck and water line installation. Utilities will be relocating services. Pictured above: Progress on Paper Mill Road Bridge over Sope Creek.  This project replaces the existing bridge and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 25, 2013. Lower Roswell Road Construction  Contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Sept. 21 and 22 Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27 This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list. Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, Sept. 23 through Friday, Sept. 27 Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. The contractor will continue grading, wall construction and work at roundabout. Utility relocations should not affect your service. EXPECT DELAYS. Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction The contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Sept. 21 and 22 Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass – Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27 Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punch list including final grading and grassing.    Concord Road Construction – City of Smyrna The contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Sept. 21 and 22     South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road – Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27 Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times. The Evelyn Street intersection with Concord Road has been permanently closed. Roswell Road (SR120) Construction - GDOT Providence Road to Robinson Road – This GDOT project will require periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times. EXPECT DELAYS. Road Resurfacing Asphalt paving operations are scheduled for next week, Monday, Sept. 23, through Friday, Sept. 27** on the following roads. One lane will be open at all times. EXPECT DELAYS. Night Work – Lower Roswell Road from Roswell Road to South Marietta Parkway.  ** The above scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or construction progress.
