State police say there were no eyewitnesses to Autopsies scheduled for crash victims

Families and friends are struggling following the sudden loss of four young people killed in a horrific accident over the weekend on the Sprain Brook Parkway. Police say speed may have been a factor in the fiery crash that killed driver Bruno Vaccarezza, 19, of Cos Cob, Conn. and his passengers, Fernanda Gomez, 19, of Port Chester, Juliana Restrepo, 18, of Port Chester, and 20-year-old Vincent Mendoza, of Norwalk, Conn.

Downpours could be heavy at times throughout the Storms douse Labor Day plans

Families holding Labor Day barbecues might want to keep an eye on the skies today. News 12 Meteorologist Brysen Van Eck says that storms could bring heavy downpours to the region at various points during the day. Van Eck says the day won't be a total washout since there will be periods of dry weather between the scattered storms.

Most offices closed for the federal holiday. Hudson Valley shuts down for Labor Day

Closures and schedule changes are in effect for offices and mass transit today due to Labor Day. The federal holiday means government offices, courts, schools and financial markets are all closed for the day. Post offices are closed and there will be no mail delivery.

 Obama seeks Syria support

The United States is considering launching a punitive strike against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, blamed by the U.S. and the Syrian opposition for an Aug. 21 alleged chemical weapons attack in a rebel-held suburb of the Syrian capital of Damascus. The U.S. said the attack killed 1,429 people, including at least 426 children. Those numbers are significantly higher than the death toll of 355 provided by the aid group Doctors Without Borders.

Police say Fish crashed his car Wednesday. Wake held for Newburgh teen

Wake services are being held later today for a Newburgh teen who was killed last week while delivering pizzas. Police say Brian Fish, 18, lost control of his car along Route 207 on Wednesday and slammed into another car. They say Fish just made a delivery for Two Brothers Pizza in New Windsor and was on his way back to the shop.
