Parks and Recreation

July is National Parks and Recreation Month!

2012 was the warmest year on record for the US http://go.usa.gov/becH. As we head into the warm summer months and as you prepare to visit National Parks and green spaces in your community, be prepared to combat harmful UV rays. Be sure to generously apply sunscreen, seek shade, and visit the SunWise website for more tips http://go.usa.gov/jbGm

Extreme heat, drought, or nearby wildfires can bring about reduced air quality, increased power use or outages, increase water demand, and more - all of which can worsen health conditions or harm the environment. Find out what individuals or communities can do to better prepare for or respond to harsh, hot weather conditions. One important tip: Generator exhaust is toxic. Always run generators outside well away from doors, windows, and vents. Never, ever use a generator inside.
