Get Ready for the SHOP Marketplace

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

The Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) is a new program that simplifies the process of buying high-quality health coverage for your employees. It opens for business October 1, 2013 with coverage starting as soon as January 1, 2014.

We know you’re busy running your business, and you don’t want to spend any more time than necessary wading through the options for offering employee health insurance. So we’ve made it easy for you to look at your choices, make apples-to-apples comparisons, and decide on the coverage you want to offer and how much you pay toward employee premiums.

No matter what state you do business in, you’ll have access to the SHOP Marketplace. In some states, you’ll use your state’s website to apply for coverage. In other cases you’ll use HealthCare.gov.

Want to get ready now? Answer a few quick questions to get content that’s targeted to your business size and current insurance status. You’ll also get a checklist that will help you prepare to enroll. And be sure to check out our SHOP video on YouTube.
