	Tips to keep students safe this school year Parents are being encouraged to pack a safety checklist in their children's backpacks as they head back to school this year. According to the National Safety Council, transportation safety is one of the top concerns for students, and it has a number of tips to avoid injuries.

	Controversial Bronx billboard gets the ax A controversial strip club billboard has been stripped down near Yankee Stadium. An advertisement for the Manhattan gentlemen's club Scores caused an uproar in the community when it went up on East 161st Street and Walton Avenue last month.

	Organizations concerned over student bullying Community organizations say they are concerned over what they call an increase of bullying among Asian-American and Sikh students. Bronx students were among dozens from around the city who attended a conference today to discuss their experiences of bullying and demand that the Department of Education respond to their needs.

	News 12 speaks with Chancellor Dennis Walcott News 12 spoke with Chancellor Dennis Walcott on a variety of school-related topics before New York City students begin classes on Monday. Walcott spoke about the new schools coming to the borough this year. Some of the new schools will be six-year programs, so that students can graduate with a college Associate's Degree on top of a high school diploma.
