| October is the season for tricks, treats, and screams. Here at Texas Highways, we were jumping out of our skins with excitement as we put the finishing touches on our first-ever Halloween-themed BOO! issue. Readers can experience an eerily mysterious cruise through the twists and turns of Caddo Lake’s primordial setting. See a pumpkin-carving contest gone macabre as zombies invade Paris for a day in search of prey to indulge their insatiable appetites! If it’s the supernatural you seek, look no further than Galveston’s ghost tours. You can hunt for elusive spirits—but as the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for.
| | The darkened forests and murky waters of Caddo Lake are nothing if not naturally spooky. What better time to visit than Halloween? | |
| | Theater makeup, props, and a dramatic flair take center stage at Paris’ third annual Zombie Walk, part of the town’s popular Festival of Pumpkins. Get zombified! | |
| | Galveston has endured its share of grim tribulations over the years, leaving a legacy of haunted spirits—and frightening ghost tales. | |
| | Help us choose the top 40 travel destinations in Texas! We're accepting nominations now through October 15th. Then follow along in each issue in 2014 as we count down your faves. | |
| | Name this park, and you could win a South Padre Island getaway package! (Hint: It's not the beach.) |
