Crews are working to clean up and restore power after severe storms ripped through Rockland County last night. The storm downed trees and power lines throughout the area.

Students heading back to college this fall will Obama to sign student loan deal

Students heading back to college this fall will save thousands in interest charges on their loans after they graduate once President Barack Obama signs into law a rare bipartisan compromise. The president was scheduled to sign the deal Friday at the White House, ending a frenzied summer of negotiations to restore lower interest rates before millions of college students moved back into the dorms. About 11 million students this year are expected to have lower interest rates, saving the average undergraduate $1,500 on interest charges on this year's loans.

The troops will practice handling a train derailment Massive National Guard training in Westchester this weekend

More than 600 National Guard troops and airmen from New York and New Jersey are in Westchester through the weekend for a massive training on a mock train derailment. News 12 has learned the troops will also be reacting to a fake chemical spill at the Westchester County Fire Training Center and nearby Camp Smith, which is used by the National Guard.

Police found the man's body after picking up Funeral today for Valhalla man who drowned in CT

A funeral will be held this morning for a Valhalla man who drowned in Connecticut last weekend. Richard Cianflone went missing on Saturday. Police found his body after picking up a signal from his cellphone just off the shore in Essex.

Paddlers will finish up the two-week trip that Epic Canoe Trip ends on Hudson today

Hundreds of canoes are wrapping a trip down the Hudson River today in celebration of a centuries-old peace agreement. The paddlers hope to spread a message of environmental protection as they honor an agreement made between Dutch settlers and the Iroquois people.
