The politicians say that the housing authority takes Politicians touring poor NYCHA living conditions

Some local leaders are touring the Throgs Neck Houses today to highlight problems with the New York City Housing Authority. State Sen. Jeffrey Klein and former City Comptroller Bill Thompson are going into several apartments with poor living conditions, which they say are caused in large part by NYCHA taking too long to make repairs.

Today marked the 40th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop in the Bronx on Sedgwick Avenue. Pioneers such as DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and Melle Mel helped create the expressive style of music that they say told stories of people from their neighborhood.

Police have arrested and charged two women in connection to the fatal stabbing of a man at a house party on Saturday. Witnesses say Ronis Garcia was stabbed as he tried to break the women apart from fighting.

The festival had performances, vendors and an open BX residents turn out for Summer Streets fest

A Bronx road was blocked to traffic today for a street festival with food, shopping and fun. The Bainbridge Avenue Merchants Association closed down East 204th Street from Bainbridge to Decatur avenues for the third annual Summer Streets event series.
