TCEQ Announces Proposed Delisting of Lynchburg Ferry from the Air Pollutant Watch List

Good morning. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) proposes to delist Lynchburg Ferry from its Air Pollutant Watch List (APWL).
The APWL is a statewide program designed to address ambient concentrations of air contaminants considered potentially harmful to human health and welfare. The TCEQ previously added to the APWL an area in Harris County near the Lynchburg Ferry to address short-term, odorous concentrations of the air toxic styrene and also to address elevated concentrations of benzene. The TCEQ removed benzene from the Lynchburg Ferry APWL in 2010 because collaborative efforts led to a significant reduction in benzene concentrations such that levels were no longer of potential concern. Monitoring data now show that ambient styrene concentrations, too, are at levels that are no longer of potential concern. This proposed TCEQ action would completely remove Lynchburg Ferry from the APWL for all air toxics. Please visit the APWL Web page to obtain a copy of the TCEQ's detailed analysis.
Public Comment and Meeting
The TCEQ will accept comments on its proposal to delist Lynchburg Ferry from the APWL and will also conduct a public meeting to explain the proposal, answer questions, and accept public comments.
The comment period begins today, July 8, 2013, and the TCEQ will accept comments through August 23, 2013.
