Online Events Offer Personal Connections

Today, July 24, you should be receiving this edition of E-news from Franciscan Media Productions. It's also the day for our next online event featuring Catholic author and apologist, Patrick Madrid. Patrick has recorded his audiobook On a Mission: Lessons From St. Francis de Sales, soon to be released by our Servant Books imprint.

He also hosts a daily radio program for the Immaculate Heart Radio Network from 4pm to 5pm Eastern time. We decided to simulcast via our live event video service so you could have the unique opportunity of seeing Patrick in action and interacting with him while he broadcasts the show. Be sure to get online now and go to Franciscan Media. Register for the event and then join Patrick at 4pm Eastern; 1pm Pacific on Wednesday, July 24.

Peace and all good,
Matt Wielgos

ACR Presents Disciples Called to Witness

ACR's guests in program #13-31 provide insights into recognizing the committed Christian life. In "Call to Discipleship," Bishop Sam Jacobs assures us that what we do for love of neighbor is also done for love of God. In "Sharing Faith," internationally-known speaker Pam Stenzel outlines the emotional and physical consequences of having sex outside of marriage Author Kevin Wells talks about the practices that nurture his spirituality in "Discovering Faith."

The parish as "home base" is the topic of program #13-32. Bishop Anthony Taylor reveals how the parish community sustains us individually and communally. Judy Zarick hosts Green Bay's diocesan New Evangelization director, Julianne Donlon-Stanz, who stresses the importance of understanding our faith through our lived parish experiences. Author and educator Phyllis Zagano discusses with John Feister the historic and contemporary role of deacons in parishes.

Sharing the Word

In August, the weekday Mass readings tell the story of Israel as the Hebrews struggle to become a nation like their neighbors. We hear about Moses' successor, Joshua, and the later Judges who governed the Israelites in place of an earthly king. Sharing the Word provides a 90-second reflection on these and other Old Testament passages that are often outside the realm of our modern experiences.

Written and read by Cincinnati's Archbishop Emeritus Daniel E. Pilarczyk, Sharing the Word has been well-received by our audience because of its prayerful, easily understood style. Visit the Media Productions website to become one of the many daily followers of this popular audio resource.
